Spring Planting & Progress In the Garden Today 15 April 2015

Spring is in the air, the clocks were ‘sprung’ ahead, Kiki and Nerica (my dogs) have been overly exhuberant – dare I say it again – I have the fever – gardening fever. So in the last week of March, I found myself amongst armies of chocolate easter bunnies. Yep I love me some chocolate but I love more, my heart sunk for a moment, had all the perenial plants been sold out? Noooooooooooo and then in a moment joy overcame me again, turning I caught a glimpse of life and a few boxes with printed pictures of what is to come. I was pretty excited! The last boxes of plants were hidden away from the new items, shoved into the aisle that almost no one ever goes to (lucky for me.) I couldn’t resist. Now 2 weeks have passed and finally the conditions were right today to plant the last three items that I purchased:

Echinacea purpurea

Our chubby winged friends – Bees

Some of my favorite winged friends are bees.   Bees are cute, scary and an integral part of the life cycle. Where would we be without them? Vines/Vițe de Vie

Some photos with names of the vines that were planted. The vines this particular year were sweet pea, clematis, nasturtium and morning glory. Vite de vie is the term for vines in romanian but it seems like that mostly refers to fruit bearers – not sure though.

Columbine – Aquilegia sp.

Update: Now have planted a few more in 2015. Will be writing about that particular one in another post. As for this batch, well they did well for a few years, I can’t remember what exactly was the cause of their demise – we had one year that was brutally cold and I […]

Indoors or Outdoors

A pleasant surprise – Christmas Cactus Plant flowering in May! Some of your indoor plants can be moved outside now. Be cautious with placement especially if your balcony is facing south. You do not want to shock them and the radical change may burn the leaves. Since my door to the balcony and […]

planta necunoscuta

Another beautiful mystery of nature!

Here is another plant that is unknown to me. It was unmarked and the vendor did not know the name of it as well. They cost 4 lei each or about 1 euro. Searches on the internet have left me still puzzled.  What is known about the plant, that after testing various locations […]
