Garden Objects - Focul Points

balcony garden fountain, hidden fountain
In my opinion every garden where ever it is deserves to have a focul point.  It could be a larger flower, a cluster of a flowers, a statue, fountain, bird house or any myriad of items.  The fountain is my gardens focul point near the sitting area on my balcony.

Here are 2 examples of focul points that I photographed on one of my trips to Glastonbury, England. garden focul point, glastonbury england courtyard, garden statueglastonbury england garden sculpture, buddah garden sculpture, garden focul point Both examples are on the ground level in the center of Glastonbury in the densest part of the town.  They are on patios and honestly I do not remember if they are at the same restaurant or not…I will have to check next visit.  Anyway either one  would work well in the corner of a balcony as well.

Another great place for a focul point is viewing the focul point from inside your apartment to extend your living space.

What do you think? Do you have space? Do you think it is a waste of space? What is your focul point? Post a comment.

Simple Fountain

A simple and inexpensive fountain – cost estimate around 12-15 euros or 20 usd

Close-up of the fountain in action.

The fountain shown here is not a strong water surging fountain although it continuously pumps water -  just enough to create the soothing sounds of a small spring running on the rocks.  It is a simple set-up  and it was built as a focul point for the low long and narrow table that will be centered in front of the fountain.

Here is a pic of the first try – after choosing not to use the green plastic piece and opting to not have it just bubble…wanted some kind of trickle instead.

Easier to drill holes then to slice up the lid with a razor.

  • drill or razor

Oh and by the way, the pump is electric although a solar pump would be ideal. Hope to replace it later with solar to do away with cost of electricity and outside wiring.

This is it from an aerial perspective....needing many more rocks to hide the plastic top.

Need another week of walking the dogs to bring home more rocks, will be planting all around the fountain as well….more pix coming in the next days.
